(Showtime: 7:00 pm)
After 50 years of entertaining audiences across Wisconsin and beyond, the KIDS beat is stronger than ever! The Arts Council is proud to present this summer’s show, The Beat Goes On, at 7:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center of Wisconsin Rapids. Tickets are $16, and sales begin on May 1, 2019.
This 51st season will feature music and artists that have stood the test of time. Living legends such as Billy Joel, Tina Turner, and Cher, just to name a few, along with music that is both traditional and monumental, will get audiences on their feet. Music from some super all-stars such as Queen and Gershwin will keep you wanting more.
The songs of today that are featured have beats that will last from now on as they captivate younger dreamers and “wannabes” in the audience.
The iconic KIDS Band will wow you with some winning tunes from all-time rockers such as the Doobie Brothers, Festival Di Ritmo, some favorite Super Heroes, and more. These band features will keep you toe-tapping to some of rock’s greatest guitar riffs and percussive Latin beats.
The classic Broadway medley will make you want to stomp, clap, and sing along. It will bring to life some of the best-known, beat-filled Broadway tunes.
This year’s talented Hometown KIDS hail from as far north as Eagle River, west to River Falls, east to Kohler, and as far south as Salem! Central Wisconsin is proud to be represented by Megan Shields of Port Edwards. Megan is thrilled to perform with KIDS for a third season. This fall, she’ll be a senior at John Edwards High School. She began dancing at the age of four and currently trains in all styles at Rapids School of Performing Arts, where she also helps teach young dancers. Additionally, Megan’s choreography has been selected and performed at several of her dance recitals. She’s had the privilege of learning under the direction of a Rockette, and has participated in her region’s All Star Choir, State Honors Choir, and many Solo Ensemble competitions, repeatedly advancing to State. Megan is looking forward to learning and growing more as a performer, and spending time with her KFW family. Show your support of our local talent by attending the show–you won’t be disappointed!
As in years past, students ages 7-14 may attend a Realize Your Dream workshop FREE of charge, at the PAC from 3:30 – 4:30 on July 15. For more information and to register online, go to www.kidsfromwisconsin.org/outreach, and select the Wisconsin Rapids option.
